Thank you to the First Nations Health Authority for putting together this information booklet.
I would like to acknowledge and thank the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla Tribes, the Te’mexw Treaty Association, and the Lək̓ʷəŋən, Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt, and WSÁNEĆ peoples on whose unceded territories I continue to live and work for their nurturance and protection of these lands and waters, which I turn to frequently to provide me with peace and guidance. I am also incredibly honoured by their openness to sharing their stories and values and have learned a great deal from some community members and elders on the importance of practicing gratitude with the rising and setting of the sun.
I have not always known who I am. I have had my identity stripped from me and have had to spend my life re-learning and understanding who I am again as a displaced Royal. It was only after all of the hospital visits and near-death experiences I have been having over the last few years that I have been able to put together all the pieces. Not to mention, the trauma I have experienced throughout life I know has been by design for white supremacy and to entrench the patriarchy. I am only speaking up now because I know the World is in need of positive change and social reformation.
As the daughter of immigrants from India and England, I have also found there to be challenges between what I was taught at home vs what others said was ‘right’ in school and even at work. Consequently, I have experienced a lot of mental and physical hardship and have lost people close to me as a result. No longer will I be leaving my culture out of who I am and what I represent, and I will continue to learn more about other cultures to better inform how I can show up and be truly inclusive. Diversity is only one aspect. Equity is another. We must learn to coexist.
After working with vulnerable populations, in the mental health field, and in clinical research for several years, I recognized that many men avoided therapy due to harmful societal stereotypes on what masculinity ‘should’ look like. Having studied psychology, philosophy, and business and achieving part of a master’s degree in psychology before leaving the program (due to trauma outside of the program), I recognized that my path involved work with greater influence and impact. This was only one piece to the puzzle, and a large part of why I went into the adult industry.
Many do not realize that working in the adult industry means that you are running a business and educating clients on safety and consent, as well as mental and sexual health. There have been many times where clients have told me that my leadership is refreshing, with sessions being more like therapy. Providers who stay in the industry long-term also help people meet their basic human needs for connection and often support local organizations because they understand the challenges that small businesses can face intimately. I am therefore a trauma-informed advocate and mentor operating with a harm reduction model.
The greatest learning experiences I have had, have come from working in this industry as a lifestyle coach and getting to know others through it. I have come to know the many harmful, lasting impacts that oppression and colonialism can have on people and their cultures as well as the societal and intergenerational trauma that often comes with it. Thus, I seek only to uplift others through my work by creating a safe space in which people can share their deepest desires without fear of shame or judgment and express themselves openly without fear of retaliation.
I envision a World filled with harmony and wholeness; not lack and scarcity. And I truly believe that starts with having meaningful, strength-based collaborative conversations where we can put aside our differences and instead come together in peace and celebration of our unique strengths and abilities.
I am still learning, but I am grateful for what I do know now. And I am committed to making a positive difference in the lives that I touch.
Thank you for reading.
Sincerely,
Princess of the People
